Divine Liturgy and cultural evening dedicated to the martyrs of the Artakh war
Under the patronage of His Eminence Archbishop Dr. Avak Asadourian, head of the Armenian Orthodox sect in Iraq, a Divine Liturgy was held at the church of ST. Grigory the illuminator on the 10th of November 2021, the liturgy and prayers was for the souls of the heroes who were martyred in the 44-day war that Azerbaijan launched against the Republic of Artsakh in 2020. After the Liturgy ,the Armenian National Committee of Iraq held a cultural evening on this occasion at the Gulbengian Hall of the Armenian School. The evening started with the Iraqi and Armenian national anthems, followed by historical overviews about Artsakh and the last war, poems and patriotic songs also included. The evening was attended by Father Kevork Arshagian, Mr. Alek Gharibian, Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Iraq, Deputy of the Central Administrative Committee and it’s members, Diocese employees, representatives of Armenian associations and clubs, spiritual fathers, social activists, University professors who support the Armenian cause, guests and members of the sect.
