On July 31, 2023, Archimandrite Oshagan Gulgulian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Iraq received Mr. Ali Al-Lami, head of the Sadrin Martyrs Foundation, at the diocese. During their meeting, various issues were discussed, particularly the close relations between the Islamic and Christian people. They addressed the recent disturbing event in Sweden of an Iraqi man by the name of Silwan burning the Holy Qur’an. This disgraceful act contradicts all norms and goes beyond the meaning of freedom of expression and opinion. The guest thanked all Iraqi Armenians for denying the actions of Silwan. He continued with words of thanks to Archimandrite Gulgulian, who denied and publicly criticized the shameful and unacceptable act carried out by Silwan. The Archimandrite concluded his speech by emphasizing that such an act is rejected by the Christian religion, which is based on love, and what happened to Silwan is far from the principles of Christianity. Also attending this meeting was Mr. Shant Harutyunian, member of the Central Administrative Committee.
