On April 26, 2024, under the auspices of the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Iraq, His Eminence Bishop Oshagan Gulgulian, a Divine Liturgy was held at the Cathedral of St. Gregory the Illuminator in Baghdad on the 109th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The Liturgy was offered by Reverend Father Sebouh Bagadasarian. At the end of the Liturgy, the Zvartnots Choir performed some Armenian national songs. The attendees then went to the Khachkar memorial to lay wreaths, following which they went to the schoolyard where the students of the Armenian Primary School planted a tree symbolizing the perpetuity of the Armenian people. The Liturgy and ceremonies were attended by the former Primate of the Diocese, Archbishop Avak Asadourian; the priests; the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Iraq, Mr. Ropin Soghoian; Consul Hrachya Hovhannisian; the Chairman of the Central Administrative Committee, Mr. Garabed Kaloustian; and its members. Also present were members of the administrative bodies of Armenian associations and clubs, club scouts, and a group of the faithful.
