On August 17, 2025, the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, a Divine Liturgy and the Blessing of the Grapes were held at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Basra. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Grace Bishop Oshagan Gulgulian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Iraq. During the Liturgy, His Grace blessed a priestly vestment, and also blessed and congratulated three women named Mariam. In attendance were Reverend Father Terenig Sahagian, the head and members of the local administrative committee in Basra, and large group of faithful.
