On January 28, 2024, under the auspices of Bishop Oshagan Gulgulian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Iraq, a Divine Liuturgy was held at the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin in Zakho. The Liturgy was celebrated by Reverend Father Hagopos Isahagian. During the Liturgy, His Eminence blessed the new priestly vestments of Reverend Father Hagopos Isahakian, as pastor of the Armenian Church in Zakho, and wished him success in serving the parish. Following the Liturgy, His Eminence, accompanied by the clergy and faithful, went to the courtyard of the church to bless the church’s crosses with holy chrism. At the invitation of His Eminence, Bishop Gulgulian, the Bishop of the Chaldean Diocese of Zakho participated in the ceremonies. The ceremony was attended by the priests, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Iraq, the Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Baghdad, as well as the two Consuls of the Republic of Armenia in Erbil, members of the subcommittees in Avzrouk, Havresk, Erbil, Zakho, and Dohuk, and a large crowd of believers.
