On February 29, 2024, the President of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Vahagin Khachadourian, visited the Kurdistan Region. In the evening, His Excellency received the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Iraq, His Eminence Bishop Oshagan Gulgulian; church pastors; heads and members of subcommittees in Erbil, Zakho, Dohuk, Avzrouk, Havresk, Kirkuk, and Mosul. After the welcoming words, His Excellency discussed his meetings with His Excellency Former President Masoud Barzani and the President of the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, and topics related to mutual relations between Armenia and Kurdistan and future plans. After the meeting, the President of the Republic of Armenia, accompanied by the His Eminence, Bishop Oshagan Gulgulian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of the Church of Iraq, and some officials of Erbil Governorate, visited the Holy Cross Church in Erbil and laid a wreath in front of the Khachkar Memorial, which symbolizes the Armenian Genocide.
